Description: These are valves along water mains that perform various functions including controlling flow, water shut down, pressure regulation among others. There are various types to include gate valves used to regulate water flow on water main pipes, butterfly valves regulate flow in large pipe diameter, pressure plane valves used to separate different presure planes, fire hydrant valves intalled on firelines. The valves are mapped from georeferenced engineering as-built record drawings. The engineering drawings, as well as GPS points collected in the field, provide various attribute information.

Description: These valves are used to control air buildup, water pressure, or directional flow of water throughout the water system. The placement of the valves is designed to allows for efficeint control of water flow through the water main system. The valves are mapped from georeferenced engineering as-built record drawings. The drawings as well as GPS points collected after construction provide various attribute information.

Description: Fire Hydrant assets are owned and maintained by the City of Fort Worth. They provide a connection point for fire fighters to tap into the water supply system. Also used in some cases to flush the water system. Hydrants are mapped from georeferenced engineering as-built record drawings. The drawings as well as GPS points collected after construction provide various attribute information.

Description: These are project areas for Water & Wastewater CIP projects under design. The lines are a representation of general project areas based on street centerline and other estimations as per project description/documentation. Water IT GIS will regularly update the status and location of projects as information is received. For more specific questions about any particular projects, the Project Manager should be consulted.
